History

The 55mm f/2.2 is the cheap standard lens Fuji put on its cheap bodies. It appeared in 1975 as the kit lens of the ST601 and went on to the ST605 and ST605N, and when the company moved to the X bayonet in 1979 the same four-element optic was rehoused as the X-Fujinon 55mm f/2.2, the standard lens of the STX-1 and one of three offered with the AX-1. Four air-spaced singlets, which japb identifies as a Unar, the layout Rudolph designed for Zeiss in 1899; five blades, a 49mm filter, 0.6m close focus, f/16 minimum, and no EBC on either version. Fuji’s tables give it 144g in M42 and 130g in the bayonet.
